Welcome to

Casa Vista Luna in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Simple.  Rustic.  Authentic.

Live Like a Local

Built in the early 70's, this traditional Mexican 2BR, 2Bath (sleeps 5-8) house is simple/rustic in construction and furnishings but will dazzle with its sweeping views of the city and Banderas bay.  It is located right in the center of Puerto Vallarta where you'll have the best seat in town for moonsets, sunsets, fireworks, and typical Mexican life.  The sounds of church bells, roosters, and neighborhood living will give you an authentic Mexican experience that is just a 6 minute walk down the hill to the center of the famous Malecon (boardwalk) and the El Centro Art District, where you can wander the streets and soak up the culture.

The Neighborhood

The house is at the north edge of the Gringo Gulch neighborhood known as El Cerro (the hill) just above El Centro.  It is a mix of Mexican locals and ex-pats with cobblestone streets and rustic tile staircases. This neighborhood was once THE place to escape to for well known Hollywood stars during the 1960's.  The streets are lined with houses built by the 2 most notable architects of that era (Guillermo Wulff and Freddy Romero) who shaped the look and feel of Puerto Vallarta as it was becoming a budding tourist destination.

Despite the rapid growth over the past several years, this particular part of Puerto Vallarta has preserved its charm.  In 2018, Puerto Vallarta's Historic Center was recognized as a protected protected Cultural Heritage district of the Mexican State of Jalisco.

While we are in the center of things, "Urban hiking" to and from our house is a workout, we're not going to lie.  You'll need to have a base level of fitness to climb up/down the stairs, but its proximity to everything makes it worth it.

For those participating in events at our other property, Casa del Arroyo, it is just a 7-8 minute walk away.

The City is Your Theatre

Sit on one of the balconies or the roof to watch nightly fireworks that literally stop right in front of the house, whales (especially Dec-Feb), boats, and the locals enjoying fiestas in the streets.

Casa Vista Luna gives you all energy of city life that you can enjoy from your perch with the best seat in town.  If there's a festival or fireworks show, you will definitely be a part of it without having to be in the middle of the crowds.

Rooftop Terrace

Grab your favorite beverage and sit on our covered rooftop Terrace. It's the perfect vantage point to see the entire bay. There is a heavy duty cast aluminum table and 4 chairs so it's a great place to socialize and eat.

Our rooftop also has a private jacuzzi tub that, depending on the season and other factors, may possibly be utilized for an additional set up/utility fee.

First Floor - Kitchen, Eating Area, & Bonus Bed

The kitchen and eating areas are very basic, but they there when you need them.  Appliances include a refrigerator/freezer, gas stovetop (5 burner), blender, toaster oven, and Berkey Water Purifier. There are 2 separate tables if you prefer to eat down below instead of on the upper floors.

In addition, if you need an extra bed, we have one twin bed on the first floor for overflow.

3rd Floor - Covered Balcony

The third floor has a small covered balcony (common area) with additional shades for the afternoon sun.  Enjoy a book while rocking in the Acapulco chairs.  It is our favorite protected vantage-point to watch the summer late afternoon thunder/lightening storms.

Second Floor Queen Bedroom and bunk beds

The second floor has one enclosed bedroom with a queen sized bed and air-conditioning.  The second floor also has a set of bunk beds in a common area for overflow. There is one bathroom and shower on this floor that is the shared bathroom for the house.

3rd Floor - Queen Bedroom + Loft

This room is typically not rented out with the house, but there may be rare occasions when it is.

It is adjacent to the common 3rd floor balcony.  This air conditioned room has a queen sized bed and a ladder that leads to a loft with a full sized bed.

The ceiling height of the loft is low so it is primarily there as an extra bed just for sleeping versus a place to hang out.

Vibrant Culture

Puerto Vallarta's cultural hub in El Centro consists of the Malecon (boardwalk), The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe with adjacent plaza, and the Malecon Arches, which are adjacent to an outdoor amphitheater featuring local and cultural entertainment.  Casa Vista Luna is just a 5-7 minute walk to all of these areas down the hill.

Walk along the Malecon

The Malecon is one of the most recognizable boardwalks in the world because of the unique modern sculptures than line it.  During the day, it's a tourist hub for many American and Canadian tourists seeing Puerto Vallarta for the first time.  At sunset, it's the stage for some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.  At night, it's a bustling area of energy as many locals enjoy the malecon to celebrate their weekends and vacations.

Considerations

We hope you enjoy discovering Puerto Vallarta and creating your own magical memories.  Just a few last thoughts to consider before staying at Casa Vista Luna:

*  Steps...lots of Steps (with many of them uneven).  You'll need to be in good shape to get there, but you'll be rewarded with the view & proximity to el Centro.

*  There is Air Conditioning in each of the the 2 Queen Bedrooms, but NOT where the twin beds/bunk beds are.  We do have fans for these areas.  This is generally not an issue during the months of Nov-May where the weather is more mild.

*Noise:  We're right smack in the middle of town.  While we're up on the hill and don't have traffic noise, Casa Vista Luna is in close proximity to locals who may (at whatever holiday it may be) be playing music or just living the Mexican life, sometimes at unpredictable times.  This is part of the experience.  If you want totally quiet, consider staying in a more "hermetically sealed" new build condo.
